What would happen to my digestive tract after eating red meat when I haven't eaten any in 10 years?

Just curious because Friday I’m going to a barbeque and all there serveing is red meat, you know as the meat being served, their will be other things served

People say that when you don’t eat meat for years that your body looses the ability to digest it and it makes you sick. While this is something I always heard I’ve never met anyone who had problems with it. Your digestive system will slow down to digest the meat. Vegetarians have a short “gut transit time” because nothing we eat is difficult to digest. Heavy meat eaters digestive tracts move much slower to have time to break down and digest meat. Our systems adapt very easily to changes in diet. Personally, if I was invited to an event that only served meat I’d skip it.

I wud skip it to but they r havein like potato salad, baked beans, mac salad, anti pasta salad, devilled eggs and such so I figured if it wud mess my system up I cud make due with the other things available. Thx for answereing :-)

You might get the runs for a day or so; nothing worse. My suggestion is to eat something nutritious before you go, and then at the barbeque just snack on baked beans or antipasto salad - plus greens and fruit if there are any.
