how can i get over my anger issues?

i get mad really easily, and i have self-esteem issues, and when someone insults me or says something rude, it’s like i almost can’t control myself. as soon as i can, i’ll go into my room alone and pretty much have a self-contained tantrum. i’ll want to freak out and hurt myself, and most of the time i can keep myself from doing anything too terrible. i’ve also been depressed for about five months. i have like MAJOR mood swings, too, and not like just the normal ones that teenage girls usually have. so i really don’t know what to do. is there like a special method that i could use to help calm myself down? thanks.

Well there’s anger management techniques you could probably use to deal with the immediate anger (breathing techniques, etc), but you might actually benefit from learning how to emotionally regulate in general. Which takes more than tips and needs a professional. Is that a possibility maybe?

well i once asked my mom if i could like, have therapy or something like that, but she said no. :/

Im bipolar and I have really bad anger problems. but i like to ask myself is this really worth stressing myself over and getting all upset?

Well perhaps a better phrased argument than can I have therapy or something like that? Because it really could help you stop feeling bad. I’m going to have to go look through my anger management section to get stuff. Funmail me if want and I’ll try to remember to get that stuff.

yes u should try stress balls or hitting a pillow. What I do when i am mad or need or relaxing time iz lay on my bed and listen 2 my ipod and 4get abt what happened and just relax! If nothing works I would try tlking 2 a counselor or seeing a perfessional

it helps if after you get done being mad you look at the scene you caused during your angry fit and look at all the stupid stuff you did. also when you’re mad just try to avoid everyone at all costs.
