Why do I keep counting calories?

I dunno…recently every time I’ve gone to eat something I’ve been checking how many calories is in it.

I know I’m meant to have about 2000 (I think?) a day, but if I go to eat something then see its over like 200 cals. or something, I’ll put it back. I really doubt I’m eating 2000 calories a day.

I mean, today all I’ve had is 2 cookies, a few glasses of coke and a cheese sandwitch.

I’m kind of worried its the start of an eating disorder…and if it is, is there any way I can try to snap out of it?

people like to count calories as a way to gain control so try and see what is bothering you talk to someone and try to ignore the calorie sections. or even get some sticker snad get someone to cover the calorie part up or perminant marker them so that you wont have to even look at them

What I suggest you do is search the food guide on the internet to find out how much of each category you should be eating, like see how many servings of everything you should be eating and follow that.

Have you considered that you may have an eating disorder Jemmy? You do seem unaturally preoccupied with losing weight all the time.

Have a look at this site, it has some excellent advice that should answer some of your questions:

Not everything is about calories. I could make you fat off of a 1200calorie diet just because carbs, sugar, syrup, fat, saturated fat all contribute as well. Quit drinking soda…period. That will automatically make you lose weight. Cheese is really fattening because it’s a dairy. The ONLY dairy I would recommend is yogurt. Try to lower you sugar count and even an average apple has over 200calories. Eat more VEGGIES!!! They fill you up and don’t make you fat.

Honey.. first of all counting calories is not bad.. it’s good. and possibly you could start to have one (eating disorder)if you’re not careful and if you start to consider not eating or eating then purging as an option.. if you want to loose weight, just cut out the junk.. bleached white flour, anything fried period, and anything with processed sugar in it. and stick with fruit and veggies to snack on.
