What are the positives and negatives of a high protein, low carb diet?

I’m by no means on a “diet” but i have noticed i eat 150g of protein a day and only about 30g of carbs so i wanted to know the possible consequences and if ishouldup my carb intake

You don’t get a lot of fiber.

i eat alot of vegtables high in fiber and i make sure i get at least 15grams a day which is recommended for me so I am getting plenty of fiber

too much protein, especially those that you get in red meats causes osteoporosis as your body uses calcium to process protein. That is one of the negatives. Positive is weight loss, however there are better ways to lose weight such as eating less calories and a variety of foods. Also your body needs carbs for energy, so you could end up feeling sluggish and occassionally craving unhealthy foods due to your body not getting enough carbs.

Well i dont meat red meat(i hate the flavor) so i pretty much eat chicken and turkey but Im not doing this to lose weight, i just noticed that over two week period I eat mostly protein. I am trying to add more carbs with oatmeal and such but couldnt i take a calcium supplement to help with the loss of it from the protein being processed?

Most people eat too much protein and not enough vegetables, fruit, and whole grains. Different people respond differently. Some people can gorge on animal products and still have healthy cholesterol, blood pressure, uric acid etc. Other people who eat like this end up with high cholesterol, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, gout, etc. If you are curious you can always get a blood workup to see how your diet is affecting your health.
