How to tell a teacher about my self harm?

I have ana and a little of self harm, I have been talking to the samaritans but I need some tips I am going to talk to a teacher on monday what do I tell her or how do I tell her.

Well…im glad you are going to get help.

When I started self-harm (3 month ago) I went to my guidance teacher and asked if I could talk to her. I asked if we could go somewhere quiet and it was really harm trying to tell her what was up because I felt so embarraced at what I had started doing…but it was ok. She listened and was great. It took a while for me to actually tell her but she helped me and finaly she understood what I was doing. She was lovely about it and gave me suggestions on alternatives and how to keep my cuts clean.

Just ask your teacher if you can speak to them somewhere quiet…write down what you want to say if your scared/nervous and take your time. Self-harm and eating disorders are associated (that is what I was told anyway) …I also have an eating disorder- not anorexia though but still… I really hope it goes ok.

The topic of self harm tends to freak people out when they dont understand it, so your best bet is to go in as prepared as you can, let your teacher know that you are not suicidal, and give her some sites and stuff she can go to so she can read more about it… Just tell her that you’ve been going through a difficult time, and that you’re anorexic and you self injure… Explain that you came to her because you would like to get help (I am assuming that’s why you’re talking to her?)

you might want to elaborate on your question. if I read it right- you are anarexic and feel like hurting yourself?

if that is correct- you are doing the right thing by seeking help. just be honest about what is going on, don’t hold any details back- be painfully honest, and you should be alright and get the help you need.
