Is this a form of self harming ?

Hi, I’m the kinda person who will stress/worry about anythin and lately most coursework deadlines are soon and teachers are telling me to come at the same time to do their coursework but when I say I have to do this lesson they go mad!! I cant cope and when I talk to someone they just shrug it off.. I’ve started to bag my knees against doors and radators as it relieves some of the pain I’m feelin bcoz am sick of cryin… Is this a form of self harming ?? Bcos if it is I will stop!!

Yup it’s self harming…you don’t have to cut yourself to self harm. Try screaming into a pillow or hitting it - it helps. =)

Two questions:

  1. Does it hurt?
  2. Are you inflicting this pain upon yourself?

If you answered “yes” to both - it is self-harm, so stop now, ok. There are better ways to deal with stress.

Yes, it is - stop it and plan better to get things accomplished on time - grades will improve and attitude / your quality of life will change for the better…Take care !!

I wont get into the technical definition of self harm… (generally it includes actually sustaining an injury that lasts more than a set amount of time, bruise etc…), but it is definitely not a healthy way of coping… and therefore you should probably stop regardless… plus things like that always escalate and you could end up really hurting yourself…

mmm yes it is self harming the thing is as elysium said try to beat up pillows and stuff but dont do it around family and stuff they will think its a bit weird…good luck!!
