Is it even possible to run more than one mile at one time?

Seriously, I’ve been running a mile for over a year! Some days it’s easy other days I barely make it. Some days I can run a mile an a half others I can’t! it’s crazy, I want to be able to run at least two miles straight. I just can’t seem to do it. Do you think practicing this on the treadmill has anything o do with why I’ve reached my peak?

Answer #1

Practicing to live up to your goals really helps. Exercising on the treadmill is great! Just keep exercising because once you build up your endurance, you can run even further. It is possible to run more than a mile at a time but just be safe. Each person can withstand a certain amount and if you go over what you are capable of, you could really hurt yourself. I not saying you shouldn’t push through your comfort zone because in some cases you should so that you can reach your goals. But just be safe and don’t overdo it. Just one step at a time. Kudos for running so much! I can’t run at all because I’m just too lazy! :/

Answer #2

Of course it’s possible. You just have to push yourself. Each day, set a goal of running at least 10 seconds longer than the day before. I would switch things up, and try running outside. I personally prefer running outside versus on a treadmill because it seems more interesting, and I feel like I’m getting a better workout. I also find it easier to run when listening to music. I always have my ipod with me when I go on runs. It makes the experience a lot more enjoyable, in my opinion!

Answer #3

I don’t think treadmills are good for training for endurance. If you really want to get past your peak, run outside and do the mile run outdoors. Treadmill workouts are only a simulation of the real thing… Original is always superior :)

Answer #4

And I also agree with Chanel about the iPod, not only does it make the run a little less boring, but it’s scientifically proven that music helps exercise performance… Always have music with me when I run, walk, elliptical, and weight train :)
