running 2 and a hlf miles

I have to run 2 miles and a half on thursday for physical testing in gym, and I can barely run one lap. . can anyone tell me what to do or think about so I can push myself to keep going and not stop??

It is very hard to pace yourself under pressure. I would suggest trying to block out everyone else, you know they will pass you but your goal is not to compete with them but with yourself. Eat a banana in the morning the potassium will do you well with muscle cramps. A steady flow of breathing will help you; try to come up with a consistent pattern of breathing in your nose and out your mouth. Remember that the human body is an amazing and powerful thing. When you are keeping track of your progress your mind is telling your body that you have never ran longer then this so you can’t take much more. But if you can put it out of your mind you can go 10 times longer (this is not an exaggeration). But the most important thing is stretching, but you probably already know that because that is an important part of gym class. Good luck and G-d speed.

usually when im know im going to run a longer distance that I never done .. I take my mp3 and listen to music while im running.. I forget why im running and just keep going .. Music takes me to another world .. you should try it
