Answer #1

As for some countries not having cancer or diabetes, im well aware of disease distribution

…you talk as if cancer is contagious.

I dont think your answer of ‘they dont fully understand how cancer works’ is very relivent considering im talking about a woman who oneday had a huge malignant tumor and cancer cells spreading throughout her body and, quite literally, it was gone the next.

…not relevant? Then how would YOU ‘scientifically’ explain it? And the huge tumor just vanished huh? Who’s tumor? I’ll take a look at the medical records.

Oh, by the way, that STILL doesn’t prove ‘absolutely’ that God exists. It sounds just like chi-manipulation or will power (mind over matter). Which are also done in other countries for many different ailments, under the shroud of many different religions.

Answer #2

I don’t believe that we came from monkeys…I only believe that God was there and created us…you shouldn’t have to see proof that he is there…that’s not how it works…I believe because I know there is a better place after death.

Answer #3

captainassasin, cancers not so hard to understand. Starts off as displasia, turns to neoplasia, metasticises and there you have it. Abnormal cells growing and dividing at crazy speeds. I dont think your answer of “they dont fully understand how cancer works” is very relivent considering im talking about a woman who oneday had a huge malignant tumor and cancer cells spreading throughout her body and, quite literally, it was gone the next.

As for some countries not having cancer or diabetes, im well aware of disease distribution, I studied epidemiology (boring as hell, wouldnt recommend it) but as well as the fact we are not talking about a woman in a country with low rates of cancer, we are talking about a woman in a country with relatively high rates of cancer who actually HAD cancer herself.

Answer #4

Yes…

I don’t know about yours, but MY imagination (figments included) can’t type…

Answer #5

Can you prove that we are not all a figment of your own imagination?

Answer #6

Many, many people have experienced God first hand and that experience is a psychological and/or emotional componenet of a tangible human being.

That’s debatable…

It adds a whole other dimension to the experience; since nobody considers GOD to be an emotion, nor LOVE to be a separate entity that created the universe. There’s a big difference between feeling what you perceive to be God around you, with you, within you, etc. …and actually hearing God talk to you, appearing before you, etc.

I guess you could think of it along the lines of ‘close encounters’ of the first, second, and third kind.

The reason the existence of God is so much more difficult to believe in, compared to love, is how these experiences are perceived by the individual. Any experience you have, that you would attribute to God, I could perceive differently. A Christian could say: “God told me to “ or “God said I would find you.” …where as I would attribute any choices or decisions as a product of MY OWN reasoning, judgment, or concept of right & wrong.

Though I DO like your thought processes on the matter. It is more acceptable to me, an agnostic, for the struggle between right & wrong, good & evil, God & Satan, Heaven & Hell, to ALL be internalized within each individual. And those deities or entities, are actually figurative interpretations of the darkness and the light within all of us.

Now THAT I can believe…

Answer #7

Because people can experience that first hand. Its a psychological and/or emotional component of a tangible human being.

Many, many people have experienced God first hand and that experience is a psychological and/or emotional componenet of a tangible human being. Same thing, I say I feel love, you believe me because you have felt it too. I say I have felt God, you don’t believe me because you haven’t felt it or haven’t realized what it was when you did.

Love is passive, intangible, hypothetical and works on many differnt levels in many different ways. You can think you love someone one minute and then hate them the next. People confuse romantic love with infatuation all the time. Some people do not know the meaning of the word and love only themselves.

It comes down to… love is a concept that has many facets and inspite of all the ‘proof’, it can’t be proven. Gods existence has much ‘proof’, but can’t be proven either. The only difference is everyone wants to feel love because it feels good, not everyone wants to believe in God because they are too prideful to admit they must answer to someone. Many people believe what they want out of convienence and weakness, not because they seek truth.

However, I will say you (captainassassin) seem to be intelligent on many levels and that is a respectable quality, use it for good!

Answer #8

It’s hard to prove that God really exists since there is no image of him and nobody claimed to have seen Him yet. However I do believe that a God exists. My reason for so, aside from my faith which requires me to believe, is other non-human beings also exist. People through out the years have spotted angels, ghosts, demons and other beings that leave a lot of skeptics. Another proof of God are the miracles that happen when His help or the help of the Holy Family, and the saints are invoked. There is no scientific explanation at all for some of this miracles, thus they remain one are considered as divine intervention. Another proof that I have is the Eucharist. The Eucharist is the part of the mass when the priest consecrates the host, an unleavened bread, and wine to become the blood and flesh of Christ, the Son of God. If you do not believe it then please feel free to visit this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eucharistic_miracle

Answer #9

That’s because they don’t fully understand how cancer works, or just won’t admit to it. There are many countries where cancer & diabetes hardly exist.

Answer #10

I cant prove for absolute certain that God exists. On the other hand, a woman a know had terminal cancer and she went to my priest for healing. She no longer has cancer and no doctor can come up with any medical explaination as to why.

Answer #11

A verse that stops bleeding, huh? Really? Wow… and you don’t have to do ANYTHING but say the verse, huh? That’s all? You don’t even have to put pressure on the wound, or dress it? Nothing?

snickers

…nut.

Answer #12

My friend seen an Angel. I have a verse that stops your bleeding if you believe in God and in Jesus. It wouldn’t work if they weren’t real, so they are real cause it worked.

Answer #13

I wasn’t talking about proving the person I was talking about proving the concept of love, which cannot be proven without doubt, so why believe in that either. It does make sense to want proof, but many things, like the concept of love, cannot be proven by science, yet most of us agree it exsists.

Answer #14

You have to have ‘faith’ that god is real. I mean the bible is very complex and it does get pretty hard to follow, but thats where faith steps in. Why don’t you try praying and asking God to help you and come into your life.

Answer #15

The bible was written by man, what good is it going to do reading the bible? & besides, I’ve read it already, it’s not so holy as people think it is.

Answer #16

mandie your making the ersztg of us athists look baqd

Answer #17

which cannot be proven without doubt, so why believe in that either.

Because people can experience that first hand. Its a psychological and/or emotional component of a tangible human being. Not a passive, intangible, hypothetical, super-dimensional entity, that apparently sees and controls the past, present, and future.

…see the diffrence now?

Answer #18

Who says evolution and science cannot go hand in hand with God? You dont have to believe in one or the other (unless you insist on taking the word of some religious texts literally…) There is no proof of God… No religion and no religious text can do that, you either believe or you dont… If you dont, so be it, why challenge people to prove something that cannot be proven?

Answer #19

I am a Christian and I have to say it wasn’t the bible itself that made me believe in God. I didn’t care what the bible had to say until after I believed in him. I was convinced by many other things, too much to get into here, but, reading the bible and choosing to believe it doesn’t have to be the first step. First, search for truth and you may find it is consistent with the bible like I did. If you truly seek the truth and ask questions, It will lead you to God, or instead of truth you can just believe whatever fits with what you want. I personally didn’t want to risk it. Thank God I didn’t!

Answer #20

If someone you loved asked you to “prove” that you loved them, what would you do? What if nothing you did was proof enough for them? Can you hold love in your hand and show it to them? No. So it is with God. There are many things he does to show us he is real, but many will not accept any type of proof. I can neither hold God nor love in my hand and show it to you, so does that mean you don’t believe in either?

Answer #21

LAWL at rick. Nice.

And to ladydon07: You do realize evolution is practically proven, right? Or does turning a blind eye go hand in hand with believing in God?

I do agree that God’s existance shouldn’t have to be proven, but some people NEED proof. And I also believe that belief in God can be combined with faith in science, unless you close yourself off to either one of them completely.

The only thing that really contradicts evolution is the Bible, which was written by humans like everyone on this site. If I wake up hearing voices tomorrow and write everything down, does that make what I hear real? No. But you can’t prove everything either.

Answer #22

I DK IF I BELIEVE IN HIM OR NOT I HAVE TO HAVE PROOF THATS THE WAY I AM FOR SUM THINGS and SUMTIMES I QUESTION because WHO IS GODS PARENTS IS HE A PERSON? Answer #23

Answer #24

Oops sorry for double posting

Answer #25

Prove he is not … Real.

Answer #26

don’t be bitter.. don’t be so ignorant try reading the Bible.

Answer #27

“If someone you loved asked you to ‘prove’ that you loved them, what would you do? What if nothing you did was proof enough for them? Can you hold love in your hand and show it to them? No. So it is with God.”

Not analogous at all. It’s not an issue of “proving” you love someone, it’s “proving” they even exist. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to want proof something exists if you’re going to base your entire life on it, does it?

Answer #28

Nothing finite can be infinite (eternal). Since the universe is made of finite things (matter, time, space), it therefor must be created by something without time (timeless), thus making it eternal. If it is eternal, it must be infinite, and if its the Creator, it must be God.

The universe changes, and time is the measure of change. How many changes have happened before right now? If you claim an infinite number of changes (which is impossible because you can not have an infinite amount of finite things), it is a logically impossible to conclude we could ever have reached this moment in time. In a world of cause and effect (which we live in), there can not be an infinite regress (an infinite amount of cause and effect reactions to get to a certain cause).

Allow me to rephrase. Imagine that the Earth orbits the sun every 365 days (it does). Now, on Mars, a year is much longer than an Earth year, being 687 Earth days (basically double). So, for every 2 years of Mars, Earth has circled the sun approximately 4 times. Now, imagine that this has been going on for eternity. By your logic, they would both have circled the sun the exact same amount of times, because its been going on forever (this is clearly impossible). This shows the impossibility of an infinite regress, whereby there could not have been an infinite amount of (x) before right now, in a finite universe based on time.

Now, back to God. God exists outside of time, in Eternity. God created time, and time is irrelevant to Him. God is Eternal, not created. Firstly, you have 2 choices; either everything came from nothing (which is impossible), or something always existed and created us. You have no other choice. Take a moment to think about that, remembering that it can not exist in time, that would be impossible. Time can not be eternal.

This thing that always existed would be considered Eternal, having transcended time, space, and matter, being everlasting, having always existed. If you argue this is impossible, I would argue the contrary; it is impossible for this Eternal ‘thing’ to not exist, because the alternative is that nothing existed, which could only produce nothing. So, something always existed, and is therefor Eternal.

Now, for something to be Eternal, it can not consist of time, because time must have had a beginning. We exist in a universe of causality, so an infinite regress is impossible; there could not have been an infinite amount of time before right now, because we never would have reached this moment in time. That means time had a beginning, and whatever created time exists without time, beyond time, in timelessness; Eternity.

So, this Eternal Creator, created time, and the universe. This Eternal Creator clearly is extremely powerful, because the energy of the trillions of stars in the known universe were created by this Creator. And obviously, the Creator is extremely intelligent, having created an intelligent being such as mankind and a world in which to populate with it.

I dont believe theres a god… or there wouldnt be cancer… he would do somthing about it
