In need of Legal Advice (emancipation of a minor)

On my 17th birthday, Feb. 21, I plan to file for emancipation and move out. I live with only a mother, and have a job, as well as am looking into apartment and renting opportunities provided near my school. If my mother isnt too much of an loser about it, I also have a car, which was given to me but which (because im a minor) is in her name not mine. I need to know the legal processes and requirements for emancipation in the state of Texas as well as any advice. Staying is not an option, so please refrain from lecturing me on this choice.

Emancipation All states are different and each judge in that state is different as well.
You need to prove that you can maintain good grades while also balancing a job. You need to consider all the cost into living on your own appartment, electric renters insurance, (water is normally included in the bill but not always). You need to have transportation (bus should be able to work if it goes through your area.
After factoring in all the money for living on your own (dont forget food) you need to also have a persentage above that. Being that you are in a conservative state it will probably be 1/3 of your income for saving. You also need to prove that your parents are not serving in your best interest. This cant be simple disagreements but you need to prove to the judge that they are endangering you. The car will most likely not be yours anymore unless your parents give it to you. It is in their name and once you become imancipated they are no longer of any legal relation to you.

there right. All you need to do is make the judge see that its not in your best interest living with your parents. im going through the same thing. If it works let me know . im trying in a month.

Good Luck. =))
