Legal information on harboring minors?

My son’s girlfriend is 16 (17 in 3 mos). Her mother said she can move out , but since my son is 18 I want to make sure he would not be ‘harboring a minor’

Answer #1

If she’s a minor in your state, she 16, your son 18, there’s a possible charge worse than harboring (2 young people, not married, same house = ??)…..IMHO, it’s a terrible decision. What kind of example is being set ?

Answer #2

Mommad ……..If you are dumb enough to let a 16 year old and an 18 year old shack up then it really doesn’t matter . Does it. Colt

Answer #3

I dont think it’s a bright idea to let a 16v year old and a 18 year old move in together unless you aren’t comfortable with the amount of kids you have and want 2 or 3 more soon ( the 16 year old plus 1 or 2 grand kids) Your son doesn’t needs that knd of relationship right now and neuther does is girlfriend but they can just continue date.I think it would be best if she sleeps at his house some times and he can do the same instead of moving in with each other.

Answer #4

To make sure things are all legal she could get emancipated.

Answer #5

Check your states laws. You don’t want your son to be arrested for statutory rape and have to register as a sex offender everyplace he lives for the rest of his life and have to put his conviction on every job application he ever fills out.
