Should I eat a meal after I workout or wait a couple hours?

What are the benefits of eating later or right after?

You can eat right after. It actually helps burn calories because your metabolism is running faster. I would just have something small with protein, like a protein shake. And then a few hours after that, make sure that you eat a proper meal.

Yes you can eat right after :) it makes no difference when you eat as the calories will be taken in either way. It is always good to have some protein right after a workout as it helps build and repair muscle so will build of the effects of your workout as well as help you recover from it. Try grilled chicken or turkey or a snack such as nuts. For any other food group it does not really matter too much.

If you want to keep your metabolism high so you burn off food more quickly, then have smaller portions at each of your 3 main meals (start the day with something filling like porridge) and a snack in between, so you have 5 small meals a day. Nuts, fresh fruit or carrot sticks with a dip like hummous are all good snacks. Having food more often, but less, so you do not have too many calories, will keep your metabolism fast.

You supposed to eat 15-35 minutes after a workout becuase that is the best time for your muscles to absorb nutrients, and make sure what everr your eating is high in protien, like ckicken or steak.. Or take whey protien

It’s watever you choose, you can eat right after because you just gave up a lot of energy and food is what should supply that. Or if you want you can eat something like a fruit salad or a regular salad or some other kind of healthy snack and then eat something that fill you up more latter. It’s up to you, but you can eat right after as long as it’s healthy.

After your workout, it is important to eat carbs and protein and some form of sugar. These three things are needed to replenish your glycogen levels, provide protein for the muscles and burn the carbs for better transport of the protein. If you decide to wait, do not wait longer than 2 hours after your workout.

I would say that having a protein shake or some beef will help as the shake can provide 20-60g of protein with 40g of carbs, and the steak provides 5-10g of creatine which is needed to recover.
