What does protein do for your body?
in terms of working out? It helps rebuild your muscles. When you work out your tearing your muslces, and protein helps repair it alot faster and stronger
Protein helps by providing the proper nutrient for your muscle’s fuel, and can also be great in working out because your body will use the protein and glycogen as fuel instead of your poor muscles. Consuming protein pre and post workout helps in giving your body enough nutrients to build on top of the muscle you already have.
In the gym you are breaking down the muscle fibers and this signals the muscle, “Hey! Let’s build some more muscle for this kid!”, but if you don’t have protein, it ends up consuming the muscles and may actually causing a catabolic effect in which you shrink in size.
You should consume about 1g per pound in a day. So if you are a 120lb. man, you would need 120g, also depends on your activity levels too. Someone who is a bodybuilder needs around 1.5-2g per pound because they use it up quicker than those in a sedentary lifestyle.
