how much protein to consume daily?

ok I’ve been lifting weights for a while now and I was wondering how much protein I should consume daily im 170 pounds and I heard your supposed to multiply your body weight by 2 in order to know how much protein to consume and 170 times 2 is 340 so am I supposed to eat 340 grams of protein per day I really think thats a little too much protein.

Sound about right you should be good the bad thing about eating to much protein is you get wuts called protien bumbs on your arm I get em it’s not bad

I assume that you wanna build muscle. If that’s the case you have to think about a lot more than just protein. You could take in a huge amount of good protein, but if you’re not putting your body into a positive caloric state, you’re not going to gain weight. Based on your weight you should be taking in 3400+ calories a day. How are you naturally built? If you’re naturally an ectomorph (aka: skinny) you might want to take in closer to 4000 calories. As long as your taking in enough good wholesome calories, all your other macronutrient needs should be met.
