what are your thoughts on Prop 8?

what do you think of it? for or against it? I want to hear (see) your opinion about it and why.

Answer #1

“Gay marriage is not a natural right but can become a civil right if the citizens support it.”

Define “natural right”? A civil right is not based on what the majority thinks. Only 50 years ago the majority of people in the south thought inter-racial marriage was not “natural”. Does that mean the majority had the right to impose their will? The right to own slaves was also accepted by the majority. Were they right too?

The whole concept of civil rights is based on protecting people from abuses of power from the majority.

Answer #2

I am against it because you should marry for love and love only. No matter who or what the age is, I am therefor against it.

Answer #3

for those who are against gay marriage, please give me on non-religious reason why gays should not be allowed to marry?

Answer #4

I think they should have that right .. they deserve to be happy as well

Answer #5

I’m still confused as to whether it prohibits or allows gay marriage. So, rather than commenting directly on the law which I haven’t read, I’ll just say that I am in favor of marriage between any legally consenting adults who choose it; to include gays, bigomy, trigomy, whatever…

Answer #6

I think that any type of marriage should be acceptable. After all if you love someone it should be your choice to live a happy long life together whether you are gay, straight or whatever. Therefore I am against it.

Answer #7

I am against prop 8. I believe that any adults should be able to marry.

Answer #8

I don’t live in California so I couldn’t vote. However I sent money to the Yes on 8 group. Gay marriage is not a natural right but can become a civil right if the citizens support it. They didn’t in California so by definition it is not a civil right. Incidentally 29 other states have passed constitutional amendments to effectively ban gay marriage, some by large margins.
