What is prop 8 all about?

I love politics, but lately I’ve been to busy to care. Someone explain, please.

Thanks!

amblessed, the majority of southerners used to also think that marriage should only be between a man and women of the same race. Just because a majority of people think something is right, does not make it right.

Give me one non-religious reason why gays should not be allowed to marry?

Proposition 8 in California, reiteratrd that the majority of the voters’ view that marriage should be between a man and a woman - (approved by 52.3 percent of California voters on Nov. 4).

Ban it? Oh, well I’m opposed to that. Thank you!

Answer #4

Prop 8 was a law in california (that was passed) that wanted to ban gay marriage.

Answer #5

Ah, yes. Prop 8 did indeed pass — the tyranny of the majority.

All present laws should be changed to say the word “Union” or “United” in all present occurrences of the word “Marriage”, “Married”, or “Marry”. Then the word “Marry” could be re-defined as the RELIGIOUS union of two people (with what ever restrictions that religion wants.) And “Civil Union” could apply to all other CIVIL unions of two people who want to share their lives.

And ALL rights and responsibilities would be exactly equal (with the exception of within that church’s authority).
