is a round pen safer for a beginner rider?????

(on western saddle horses) bc my sister is a beginner, ive been riding for about 7 years but i never learned in a round pen. so i was just wondering.

Answer #1

I think that they are just as safe as a regular trail. It all depends on how much control you have of the horse really. My first time riding a horse(a week ago), I was put on some trail and was told to just control my horse.

I think that if you and your sister feel comfortable being in an enclosed area rather than more out in the open, then it is safer.

Yes…confined is good….the horse feels secure if he’s been worked in the round pen, and the rider avoids the things that cause wrecks out in the field…the horse isn’t going shy at something, or run away…I didn’t start in a round pen either, nobody even used them back when I learned to ride…but that’s where I start people.

Answer #3

thanks. because she wants to ride outside of the pen. but thunder and lightening is not called thunder and lightening for no reason he’s fast and temperamental. and she wants to ride outside of round pen and i think it would of been safer inside round pen with him. he’s a good boy but hes wicked fast.
