New Kitten

My dad is letting me get a kitten! although, I will be the sole one responsible for it. what can I expect from a new kitten? what can I do to take care of it?

Answer #1

Yeah show him the litter box, and dont hold him to long the first day… let him explore. make sure he knows where the food, water, toys, etc.

Answer #2
  • Always make sure the water is clean.
  • Make sure you remember to feed it
  • If using wet food, clean the bowl once in awhile
  • If you’ve got a dog, put the food up where only the kitty can reach it
  • Give it worm medicine, even if it doesn’t appear to have worms, this will help prevent it
  • Get a bed for it, or make one with comfy stuff like pillows and old blankets
  • Make sure it has toys
  • Try playing with it
  • Don’t worry if it doesn’t want to hang out with you the first day, it’s getting used to new environment
  • Clean the cat box either every day, or every two days
  • Put litter deodorizer in the box
  • Get multi-cat litter, even though it’s only one kitten
  • I reccommend plugging in a scent dispenser near the box
  • Be careful how wide you open windows
  • Probably get screens for the windows
  • Probably get it a collar eventually
  • Get it fixed if you don’t expect it to have kittens, ever
  • Don’t give it rice, it swells the belly
  • Pot bellies often mean worms

I think that’s good! These are things I just learned since my girlfriend found and rescued a kitten!

Good luck!

luckily for you, kittens dont require much attention, although it certaintly wont hurt! as soon as you get home, show the kitten the litter box so he/she knows where to do his/her business. if you have other animals, introduce them somewhere where your other animals wont feel the need to protect their territory. a new kitten will be playful, so maybe buy him/her 1 or 2 new toys to play with, or else he/she might play with YOUR things instead.

although any animal is a responsibility, kittens are luckily much easier to take care of because they potty train very easily, and they wont beg for your attention.

most of all have fun, new animals are so exciting, arent they?

Answer #4

make sure you get a few blankets for it t sleep on make sure the litter box is in full view of the kitten at all time oviously untill its trained and would advice getting a litter box that kinda looks like a cat carrier but its not its a litter box it stops most of the smell plenty of milkand food around loads of toys cause kittens never tire of playing good luck and have fun.

Answer #5
