Is it better for your metabolism if you change up the amount of calories you eat daily?

Like eat 1200 then 1300, 1400, 1500, and back down again or should it stay consistent? ?

I doubt it. Your system would need to spend energy adjusting to the different caloric intake each day. Regularity is a good thing. I advise only eating when you feel hungry, and to stop eating when you feel full. Of course what you eat is of the utmost importance, but that’s a whole different answer.

I agree with Devin. Also may i add, you should eat small portions of food through out the day. Six small mini meals will speed up your metabolism especially if you are active during the day, you will consume more energy and hence you will need more calories. It is best to have to have very light meal in the evenings because in the evening we hardly do any stressful work or exercise so our body demands less calories.

no it doesnt i have a EXERIMILLY fast metabolism and i know all about this stufff cuz im trying to lower it cuz im ALWAYS hungry like after 30 mintues after thanksgiving i was starving so anyways you will either want to get to your doc nd talk to him about it or you can go to your pharmacy and ask them where the pills or vitamines are for metabolisms you can to that or people say to exercise but that makes your metabolism higher and for if you want to gain weight dont eat sugary stuff all the time eat healthy and have lots of protein wheat and calories you need 2500 a normal person needs 2000 but if you have a high metabolism you need more so i eat 2500 but i need to gain weight im 78 pounds…

Calorie cycling is pretty common when trying to lose weight. It’s usually done in a zig-zag pattern of:

Day 1: Maintenance Day 2: 500 calories below Maintenance Day 3: 300 calories over Maintenance Day 4: 200 calories below Maintenance Day 5: etc., etc.

Seems to work pretty well for some people who have trouble losing weight. It works by supposedly “confusing” your body, but really you’re just eating in a deficit for 3-4 days of the week, which is the same if you ate in a deficit all week because in the end, the total calories are lower than what you burned.

If you’re trying to slow your metabolism, then do less activity, or eat more. And by more, I mean MORE. A lot of people think they’re eating a lot, but they’re really eating just barely their own maintenance intake. Some of you haven’t seen what it means to eat more until you’ve stuffed your face with 4,500 calories/day for 2 weeks and then gained 5 pounds.

It’s not a matter of the speed of your metabolism, It’s really just how much you’re eating:

Calories consumed > Calories burned = Gain Calories consumed < Calories burned = Lose
