Lickng and scratching

My dog will not stop licking, scratching and biting himself. He does not have fleas. I think it is a skin irritation. Does anyone know what to do to do give him releif?

I’d be looking at my dog food…this sounds like allergies…Not all allergies are food related, some are contact allergies…some are seasonal…You’d need a Vet to test for them…Changing to a high quality food, tho is one easier way to see if that’s the problem.

Give your dog Omega 3’s…you can buy Fish Oil Caps at Walmart for very cheap, and they are plum full of Omega’s. Omega’s make for healthy skin and coats…add to the natural oils to keep dry skin at bay.

If she gets an irritated spot, or scabby…Mix 1 part Original Listerine with 2 parts distilled water. Keep in a spray bottle, and spray the area. Listerine not only promotes healing, but it stops the itching and it is a deterrent to the dog to keep biting at the area…

Thank you everyone for your advice. I took him to the vet and she said she found 4 fleas and he is allergic to the flea saliva. She gave him a cortisone shot and said even one bite will drive him to scratch, bite and lick incessantly since he has that allergy! So I guess im on flea watch! Thanks again!
