Is it possible that Terrorism is caused by this?

Is it possible that Terrorism is caused by problematic interpretations of Islam, thus threatening world peace ?

Answer #1

Nice job !! A legitimate question and you turn it into an opportunity to Christian-Bash - well done !!

Answer #2

terrorism has no religion the war is between countries not between religions its so unfair just see most of the people in arabian countries are both muslims and christians and they live in peace together and love each other

Answer #3

gasmanobt said what i wanted to say. just as there are some bad christians, there are also bad buddhist and muslims etc. so yes christians are not perfect and neither do we claim to be. bush made a bad decision and so did christian america. but remember that not everyone is a bad egg. which is also the case for all other religions.

Answer #4

I definitely agree with thedude.

Sadly, I have met some so-called ‘Christians’ who are outright nasty individuals - rude beyond belief. They don’t ‘practice what they preach’ by a looong shot.

Answer #5

This is not a religious issue. Any individual, no matter what they believe, is capable of doing bad things and making poor choices. The human tendency to be tempted with what is wrong is a natural affliction. There are, unfortunately, corrupt people most everywhere, and making their religion the scapegoat for their wrongdoings is an unfortunate mistake.

Answer #6

Terrorism is caused by unhealthy obsession and plain idiocy. That’s all.

Answer #7

you turn it into an opportunity to Christian-Bash

Most of my best friends consider themselves Christians, Catholics, or similar. However, given the way you put the question, it’s clear you have a bias :)

Consider this: how many times have Muslim people come onto this site and accused Christians of being terrorists? Not once.

So, that’s grossly unfair. Therefor, to make it more fair, I argue the other way.

And, as we all know, it was Saudi Nationals, not Afghanis or Iraqis that were behind 9/11. The US then has done nothing about that country, however, has invaded two others with flimsy excuses.

There isn’t a single religion in all of history that has the monopoly on zealots & idiots…hence, my point about Christians. Didn’t Jesus say in the bible, deal with the plank in your own eye, before the splinter in your neighbors eye?

:) I can quote some more scripture if you like…I’d just appreciate it if people wouldn’t bash ANY religion. However, Islam has gotten picked on too much here with flimsy excuses.

Answer #8

Terrorism is caused by poverty, oppression, violence and greed. A “terrorist” is a victim of these.

Answer #9

Religion can be a powerful brainwashing tool. And its still being done as we speak…

Answer #10

…compassion? We would need more Buddhists for that.

Answer #11

I do not see the question as picking on anyone, it is a legitimate question… and I don’t see anyone trying to logically answer it, without throwing in their own prejudices and blaming it on the poster… Get real…

Answer #12

.. I think that it could be.

Answer #13

You could find & replace every single major religion there, and come up with the same answer, friend.

Try “Christianity” as far as I know, it’s been Christian nut balls that have been responsible for the MOST deaths, world wide, as a result of excessive fanaticism.

Now, I’m lumping in protestants, catholics, and baptists in that same bucket, mind you, essentially everybody who follows the “basic instructions before leaving earth” book complete with “no historical basis in fact” :)

Have more people died as a result of President Bush entering Iraq, OR did more people die from 9/11?

The answer is clear: more people died as a result of the Christian President who gave the order to invade.

Answer #14

I don’t believe that these problematic situations that have aroused in the world solely because of the Islamic religion. Every religion has good and bad people, as well as negative and positive interpretations of the religion. I believe it is the people that hide behind these religions that are causing unrest in the world. There are many examples throughout history of a person hiding behind their religion. By doing this the person ends up gaining support from the followers of that religion. In this world there are leaders and the opposite, followers. There are few “leaders” in the world compared with “followers.” The people of the religion that are followers would thus do as they are instructed and follow that path with the leader. Usually, the more outspoken and compulsive the leader(s) is the better results.

The world has problems because of the imperfections of human beings themselves and not the religions. It is human nature to be either a leader or follower, a predator or the prey.

I have met people who say they are Christian but are plain rude, but I have also met Christians that are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Not only Christians but Jews, Muslims, and Buddhists, etc. that I have met have been unpleasant but I have also met others of the same religion that I am happy I met, as well.

Islamic people would not have as much problems today if this war wasn’t going on. I’m not entirely educated in this aspect, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but back during the Crusades weren’t the Christians later discriminated just like the Islam’s now? The same can be said about the Holocaust, with Adolf Hitler and the Jewish society.

Islamic people are the main focus right now because of the war and many people tend to focus on the main clause and not the whole picture.

Answer #15

People! Let’s understand something first ok.? Just because there are those who dishonor the name of Christ with their lack of Christlikeness, don’t lump all of us into the same category. There are without a doubt, and in all walks of faiths, any number of individuals, who, for their own self seeking gratification, bring shame to their respective teachings. Christianity however seems to get the brunt of the attack because we Christians have a great deal to live up to. “The proof is in the pudding.” Many times there have been wars started by people who claim they do it in the,”name of freedom”, or “the name of (insert religious word).” I agree that the crusades and other dark parts of history reflect Christianity in a bad light. That does not mean that we are all a bunch of nuts. Many of us Christians actually believe and live the truth outlined in scripture. Just because Bush wants more oil for money or whatever his motives were doesn’t show that we’re doomed to be like him. And with that said, I heard a quote yesterday that said,” over 90% of Americans supported the war after 9/11.” It didn’t say just “Christians” were supporting him but America as a whole.

As far as the plank in your own eye goes.. Very true, we are to not judge others and we cannot see clearly out of one eye. Both eyes must be used to see clearly to help others.

When you look to other parts of the world where Christians are the vast minority you can very clearly see the abuse, tortures and deaths of those who stand for Christian principles. Christianity is not the only “religion” responsible for the slaughter of innocent blood. Countless missionaries to other parts of the world have gone out in faith only to come home in a box. Or not at all. Case in point: The Korean missionaries that were kidnapped by the Taliban recently. Some were killed because they would not deny Christ. Only after global outcries did the Taliban release the hostages.

The bantering between faiths will go on until the end of time and then, only then, will the useless fighting, ignorance, and deaths cease. Only until we, as the human race, can come to the table and discuss our issues rationally and with compassion can we then put this division to rest.
