How many consecutive pushups indicate good fitness?

A few months ago, I started trying to get back in shape…being on the computer all the time isn’t the best for your fitness level. So, I started doing more pushups, and got to where I could do sixty consecutive pushups. Is that a good number? I’m 32, is there a ball park for how many consecutive pushups I should be able to do?

Answer #1

60 is cool man im british army and I do 80 in 2 mins on my personal fittness test

but fitness is not all about how many times you can lift your self off the ground

map out one and a half miles and see how fast you cn run it in 10 mins 30 is the minium standard I run it in 8 mins 50 but 10 mins 30 and under basicly means your at an acceptible standard of fitnes and you know your fit when you can run miles and miles with out realiseing lol

Answer #2

In the Army that is exceptable…on a PT test your scored would b like a 72…give or take. Its ok. I do about 150 in 2 minuets. As Airborne Infantry 150 is outstanding. I score a 100 on pushups and situps…now my running is a lil different.(I’m a x smoker) Keep it up an it will get easier to do more. I get bored before I get tired.lol.

Answer #4

I think that sound like a good number! Especially if you are not in shape :) I train martial arts several times/week and I don’t think I could do more than that lol

Answer #5

For your age. I believe being able to do over 52 is considered ‘’superior’’… But I find that number kinda small… =|

Answer #6

Well considering I can only do about 10 at age 21, I’d say you’re pretty fit.

Answer #7
