How likely is it for a gun piercing to shatter your cartilage?

Wow. I’ve had wayyy to many questions today on cartilage piercings. thank you to all who have answered my questions it means a lot (seriously) to me!!!

Anywho, is there any of you out there who have had experience with a shattered cartilage?? and if so, what was that like? secondly, how likely do you think it is for cartilage piercing done by a GUN to shatter the cartilage in your ear??

Thanks

It depends on how you mean “shatter.” A piercing gun is 100% likely to cause blunt force trauma to your ear and 100% likely to heal incorrectly for a piercing.

wellas I said before there is no profesional peircer who usues the gun real peircers use a surgical steel needle and people at the salon or mall are NOT profesional peircers

Ouhh , I’ve gotten my cartilage pierced twice , both with guns. (I didn’t know at that time) . And the old one got infected but the one now is alright . What does shatter mean ? Sorry , my English sucks . But everone advices you to get it done with a needle . So I think you should . ? Hope this helped . xx

Answer #4

Many years ago when I was a teen, the cartilage was always pierced with a gun and there was never any mention about someone having a “shattered” cartilage. Cartilage doesn’t “shatter”. It can be torn, breaking the collagen fibres, but it is not bone, and does not work the same way bone does.
