Does piercing the cartilage hurt a lot?

I’m thinking about going to Piercing Pagoda on saturday to get my cartilage pierced? I’m a big wimp when it comes to pain. I’ve heard that it doesn’t hurt some people and that it does hurt others a lot. I’m nervous about getting it done. My sister has already gotten her decond hole done at Piercing Pagoda. It only hurt her during the healing process, but I think that piercing my cartilage is a big step and an even more painful one! Yet, I’ve done research and some people say that piercing it with a gun may shatter your cartilage!!:/ I was excited but after reading what can go wrong…I’ve become scared of the pain and the consequenses. Maybe I’m just being over dramatic about it, most people just do it on a whim and everything goes alright. Why not me?? Right?

I’m only thirteen years old. My mother is on the verge of caving in and allowing me to get my ear pierced a second time. I don’t want her to think I have any hesitation so I need to make up my mind. Does it look better when you have 2 lobe piercings and one cartilage up high. Or would it look better to have 2 lobe piercings with one in like that middl-ish area. Also, the pain and risk. I completely agree with going to a professional, with needles; but as I’m only thirteen (getting it on my fourteenth birthday) how much will it hurt me and what are the risks?

first and second hole second holes done and the cartilage

I have my first&second hole and just got my cartilage pierced two days ago. I got it done at Claire’s with a piercing gun. It didn’t hurt me at all. All I felt was a TINY TINY pinch. In my opinion, I think it hurt LESS than my first&second piercings. Although, the cartilage piercing will be sore for about 1-2 weeks. The soreness is already not that bad. It is to a point where I can actually sleep on my pierced ear. I think you should get your second holes done& the cartilage. I LOVE IT.

bullshitt I did allmy piercings including my cartilage and it didnt shatter its fine

Answer #5

well I personally dont think they hurt at all. it feels like a pinch and its done and then its just a little sore during healing. not a big deal .

Answer #6

Piercing Pagoda uses a piercing gun which is very unsanitary. It’s best to go to a piercing salon where they use needles. The pain isn’t too much to handle, the only thing is it hurts to sleep on it for the first few days. I also had a problem with it getting caught in my hair and blankets and stuff but other than that, it’s fine.

Answer #7

I agree with moe214, don’t go to a piercing place that uses a gun, they are done so much better with a needle which any tattoo shop will do for you.

Answer #8

Getting it done with a needle hurts less, is safer as far as bloodborne diseases go, and won’t render blunt force trauma to your ear.
