How can I keep my blood sugar from going low while I'm on a diet?

I’m a 14 year old girl with Type 1 diabetes. I always had high A1c’s since I was first diagnosed at age 7. I decided about a week ago to stop eating so much because I always forget to give myself my insulin (In denial. I always forget I have diabetes or I ignore it.). I have been eating no carb/no calorie foods. I’ve been eating about 500 or under calories a day. My blood sugar keeps going low! I’m on an insulin pump and I keep lowering my basal rates. But I keep going low and all my sugar tab eating is screwing up my 500 calorie diet! How can I keep on this diet and not have so many lows?

No!! Juice will make your blood sugar shoot up.. not good. Apple juice and orange juice have way too much sugar. And juice won’t make up for the foods you aren’t eating. You still need to get those nutrients and calories from other foods. Juice won’t make you full. Hun, you’re really starving yourself. It worries me that you only eat 500 calories. That’s not good for anybody, especially someone with diabetes. EXERCISE!!! Really, try that.. keep eating food regularly… you can’t afford to cut down too much on food. Are you OVEReating? If you are, try eating smaller portions. But raise those darn calories! Keep track of the insulin you’re giving yourself and check your blood sugar often. (I’m sure you already know that.) My dad has been diabetic all my life.. and he hasn’t exactly taken good care of his body. He was a workaholic, so he wasn’t eating as often as he should. He almost had to have his food amputated, and now he is blind in one eye. You NEED to take care of yourself.. Being at a healthy weight is important, but you need to do it the right way. If anything, talk to your doctor.. he’ll tell you how to go about it.

If you need any help, feel free to ask me. Take care!

well I dont have diabetes but I know that if you are o a diet and still need to keep your sugar high, you can drink lots of juice..when you by juice look on the back and see how much sugar in it like oasis juice there is 96g of sugars in it so if you drink a lot of it it should help your sugar level..and also fruits is good too like “ watermelon, oranges, cantolop”
