E-collars work, but they aren’t for every dog…it depends on the temperment. It depends on what you’re trying to “teach”, also. An E-collar can be a livesaver if a dog chases deer or livestock…it’s not to be used for teaching regular obedience. Basically it’s a “tool of last resort”.

Golden Retrievers are a far cry from small dogs like your’s. For you, I’d suggest a 25 foot, 3/8’s piece of nylon rope, with a small snap to hook to the collar. Tie small knots every 18 inches or so…you can use this to teach a dog to come (letting it go out 25 feet from you, and calling it)…also, if the dog starts to take off, you can step on the rope (the knots keep it from sliding under your foot)…It’s a great tool for most obedience training…and cheap, too (about $6.00 for all of it). An E-collar will run you between $150.00 to $300.00 depending on it’s “range”.

mmm my dog is like 6000 pounds and he could literally jump our 6 foot fence and run away until we bought him one but yeah I know they have them for small dogs too they use like less voltage or sumthing but I think they might be less expensive as for big dogs … I think mine was like 100 or something
