In 19 countries if you kill a pet classed as “domesticated” you will be fined and possibly a small prison sentence.

In other countries, they enforce this hardcore so that if you kill a pet intentionally because you “don’t want to deal with it anymore” or any other similar reason, you’re looking at up to 3 months in prison and a $5,000 fine.

If you can’t handle the dog, take it to someone who can, or put it on a professional who has the legal right to put the dog to sleep.

You do not have any qualifications as a vet, therefor you have no legal right to give a lethal shot to the dog unless defending yourself. If you’re in the United States you can probably get away with it, as the laws on protecting pets are very weak in nearly every US state.

If you do kill the dog yourself, I hope one day someone stands over you and starts to ponder on how he/she is going to kill you, then finally give you a shot to end your life.

Doing it yourself can have the opposite results. You most likely will end up putting the dog through more pain(trying to do it humanely or not) The drugs are very powerful, and if mistakes are made with dosage, etc. your dog could be hurting even worse, which isn’t what you want.

If you don’t want to put the dog through the trauma of a trip to the vet check with your local vets to see if any do house or field calls where they would come to your home to perform the euthanasia.

If it’s money you’re worried about, many veterinarian clinics have payment plans and options available to help with the costs.

If you just plan don’t want the dog because of it’s behaviors then take it to a shelter but in return you should adopt another dog to help ease the overpopulation of the kennels.
