Are we willing?

My question is 2 parts first are we willing to give up what we think we want to get what we know we need and second does anyone know of someone in the Bible that prayed for something that lined up with God’s will and then when God gave it they weren’t ready because they were caught up in their own willful pleasures?

I agree with both you jason and tabz. I understand what tabz is saying bc everything you could ever want and need is already ours but until we reach up by faith and grab it, or we won’t see it. everything was given to us at Calvary bc we were given Jesus. Jesus is all we will ever need, with Him comes healing, deliverance, joy, peace, strength, etc. So if Jesus is ours, so is everything else we want and need.

But it is true, God does give to us. He supplies all of our needs and gives us the desires of our hearts if we delight in Him.

Also, I dont think God will give anything the person’s not ready for. He has no problem holding out until you’ve proven yourself faithful and able to handle it.

But to your question, I’m no where near brushed up on all my bible stories yet, but when I read your question David did come to mind. David becoming king was in line with what God had for him, but he did get caught up in his own willfull pleasures when he stole another man’s wife and had him killed on the front line. fortunately, david came up from all this and wound up being a mighty man of God. thanks for lettin me share my 2 cents!

If I gave up what I want, I would die. Personally.

I can give up some few things that are important during the time of lent, it helps me become a better person. But there is some things I just cant live without, no matter how much I try. Not that I would give them up (:

Hey tabz, I hate to tell you this, but you’re wrong. The Bible says that every good and perfect gift comes from above.
