Why this new trend?

im just curious lol did your friend write a poem about a razor >.> and does anyone think its possible that “they” (emos) put themselves in a bad frame of mind because of the dark clothing and the bleak attitude to life or is it that the idea of all that darkness is attractive to them because of I don’t know personal problems or things

lol no. writing about darkness and pain has a very low chance of being beautiful. just think about it logically how does a poem about a blade “releasing” your soul sound beautiful? sounds like a tragic accident not something done on purpose.

all the emo kids I know (allot actually) all do the same thing. they dress dark and complain about EVERYTHING. it’s more then a style of dress. why they do it I still don’t know. they don’t call themselves emo. that’s just what they put out.

Anything can sound beautiful, depending on how you word it. If you say something silly like: “I took a blade to myself,” then I agree that it isn’t very nice. But read some of Shakespeare’s work–some of the things sound absolutely beautiful, and then you read the translation, and realize that he’s making a dirty joke.

 It also depends on the audience reading it. If someone has a completely closed mind and doesn't appreciate the style of words that are chosen (in any type of poem) then it was wasted time for the writer. But if the audience is willing to think about it, care more about the choice of words and what is being described, then perhaps it wasn't so much wasted. I'm not speaking so much in "dark, scary, emo" poems, but in general. Anything that is well written can be pleasant to read.

its mostly because nowdays most people thnk the things above are what emo is because most other ‘emo’ people apparently do that and kids dont really question it they just go along with what everyone else is wearing or doing or acting its also because they have problems (just like everyone else) and are too young or silly or understand that there normal for instance theyll cut, or get really depressed over silly problems like there mum grounded them, they werent allowed out, couldnt see there boyfriend/girlfriend, something didnt go there way, ect

thats because unfortuanlty majority of the people who talk about emo and majority of the kids who call themselves emo still have no idea what the word actually means

emo is nothing more than a style of dress and a genre of music it has NOTHING to do with cutting (self harm) depression (a mental disorder) suicide, eating disorders, ect because feelings and emotions play NO part in any label or stereotype which is what majority of the kids who talk about emo and majority of the kids who call themselves emo still don’t understand

Everyone has problems (like you said) and every single person has a different way of dealing with their problems, some people do that by putting others down (not nice) and others do that by hiding away and not interacting with other people, some people go and lie about thngs to others so that they think their life is better than it really is, and others (the people YOU call emo’s) may cut themselves or even write ‘dark’ poems to relieve themselves.

Honestly I think what you have said so far has proved you very judgemental of things you don’t understand, and ignorant of some way’s in which everyone and this world is so very different, my Advice to you is…

Don’t insult people just because you don’t understand why they have chosen the path they have..

and yes I do sometimes write dark poems no I am not nor have I ever been ‘emo’ (I dont die my har black and wear no colour) yes I have had my fair share of problems and I have had to deal with them but no I would never dream of self harm as a way of escaping them!

 Secondly, you have no right to judge the level of the problems of other people. Being emotionally depressed isn't necessarily dying your hair black and writing dark poetry. It's when something happens to someone, and they hurt themselves because they want to commit suicide, they are making a cry for help, or they feel that physical pain will take away the inner pains. 
 I am not emo, as you call it, and those who think that pretending to be emotionally depressed may need more help than they let on, but I still think that what they do is their business, and you shouldn't be bothered by it.
 And it takes no skill to write ANY kind of poem--it just takes skill to write a GOOD poem. There is a difference. Any poem could be written well--including dark things about the tortures of the world. That can also be made to sound beautiful.

so right you could right a poem abot spewing up and people would think your really weird,(maybe you are) but than if its a really good poem people should appreciate that even if it is about dog poo BTW im curios what dirty jokes did shakespear make??

BTW if you havent guessed yes you have insulted a few people by posting that question and I want you to know I have only ever followed on trend and that is the wearing of a certain shoe, I write whatever poems present themselves to me at that moment and yes often they are dark so what?

writing poems isn’t going to fix the problem it’s up to you you jsut have to dig yourself out of your own hole. I’ve been there done that so I know what I’m saying No you dont know what your saying…some people deal with they probs but writing dark poem I know becoz I do it…Thats a way of relesing paiin …so you hear the pain through poetry…some people just cant dig their self outt of a hole like you they have to work thru things some people might start dressing emo or what ever but you have no right to judge. emo kids just trying to purt attention on themselves which is pathetic and useless.
