Why don't kids talk to their parents?

My kids talk to me about everything and I mean everything and feel comfortable doing so .What is wrong with some kids ,find a responsible adult and ask or try talking to your parents you might be pleasantly surprised.

Answer #1

I am not a parent, so this is just a thought.

Maybe it’s possible to have too open of a relationship with your children, depending on their ages. If parents and their children talk about everything and anything together starting when the children are very young, I believe in some cases, the lines blur between respected parent/role model and just a friendly peer. I would want my kids to feel comfortable asking me things or for advice, but I would not want to have a completely open and honest adult relationship with my young children. Now that I am older, I have a pretty open and honest relationship with my parents, and to me, that has been one of the greatest parts of being an adult. If I had always had it, I wouldn’t appreciate it now. But, in a good way, my parents can make me feel twelve years old again with one look…and I know we love each other but I still have a healthy amount of respecting fear of disappointing them.

kids that dont talk to their parents might be hiding something from them or they would probably just feel more comfortable talking to friends rather than parents… If they do talk to them, they must be a very close family… I should know this because I am a kid myself in both ways.

Answer #3

hey I am a child and it is hard becuase all parents react differently some will listen to the problem and react fine but some will listen and react horribly (example bully at school :they call the school and yell) but then again there are those strange parents like mine who just dont care and laugh bout everything >.>

well I cant speak for every kid out there but I dont talk to mine because anything I say to them either backfires or they blow it way out of proportion. then we end up fighting and even tho we eventually get over it telling them ended up causing more problems rather than solving any. I know they want to help but they go about it the wrong way and they end up just making me not want to tlk to them at all.

I dont know bout everybody else but that tends to be the reason I dont tlk to them.

Answer #6

well it is hard for me to talk to my parents because in the past everything that I have told them it just back fired and it always ended in an argument and I hated fighting with my mom and dad so after a few years I just stopped telling them thing and my prblems because not telling them anything made life at my house much easier

Answer #7

Uhm, I talk to and tell the truth to both of my parents. They know about everything I do, legal or not. I don’t really think you’re asking a question, I think you’re just bragging that your kids talk to you. My parents know everything about me. :)

Answer #8

I am sorry to hear that then the parent is in the wrong I was always brought up believing if you cant talk to your parents who can you talk to and swore my kids would always be able to confide in me no matter what and I am glad I did .We talk about every thing and think my kids are better for it.

Answer #9

Not sure what the question is… but its hard to talk to parents when you give them a chance, tell them something important to you and they go and tell it to all their friends or tell you how stupid it is.
