Answer #1

if you’re talking to another person in your head you def’ need to seek help. don’t be afraid to talk to your dr about it. they can help you. good luck.

Answer #2

It’s not a bad thing. I mean you and about 50billion people all over the world do it. It’s just our way of seeing things more clearer. I’ve had situations were I’ve been in company, not saying anything, then someone will say, ‘what did you say’, and I’ll say, ‘I didn’t say anything’. It happens most times. sub consciously I must of said something to myself, but it must of come out of my mouth. It doesn’t worry me, but if your talking to yourself worries you, then seek profession help. Especialy if your arguing with yourself…

Answer #3

I’ve heard of people talking to themselves, but not holding conversations, maybe you should see a professional.

Answer #4

I get very paranoid when I’m home alone I think I see things or hear noises and thats when I get into my stage of talking. I HATE IT THAT’S WHY I’m Talking about it I tell myself “stop doing this stop talking to myself” and the other person would say “your not talking to your self your talking to me. I t drives me crazy

Answer #5

Dear clarissapink21, We understand…now go see your school counsellor, tell a trusted adult what you are going through and make sure that you get to see a professional. Sue

Answer #6

it sounds like more than just the regular talking to yourself stuff. do you hear a voice in your head? a voice that is not you? it sounds like it could be a problem you need help for. do you have any other “symptoms”?

Answer #7

but it’s crazy I try to stop but can’t if I say something bad about someone it’s like the good sde tells me I was wrong . like for example I’ll say” dam she’s ugly “ then the good part says” clarissa that was wrong of you to say that” and I’ll say I’m sorry” it’s crazy and it’s like I’m my own counselor sometimes

Answer #8

Dear clarissapink21, well like I stated if it is negative then you may have a problem…check out a counsellor for more information. It can be due to a stressful situation that you have experienced earlier in life. Any negative self-talk should be addressed. Sue…good luck

I always heard is was okay to talk to yourself, but you shouldn’t be having conversations back and forth with yourself. What are you guys talking about anyway. (smile) I had to ask. Anyway, I hope that you don’t have some type of disorder like schizoprehnia(spell check?) that would require a visit to the therapist, just to get some professional advise. I am not sure how old you are, but try talking to the school couselor, psychologist ect. Utilize those free services first so you won’t have to pay out of pocket.

Another suggestion is that you pretend that ypu are talking to God, but leave the answering, response part up to him.

Good Luck!

Answer #11

See a professional! This is not a question for non-professionals. It sounds serious and more than just “self talk” I have worked in mental health centers for more than six years and I presently teach Special Education, so I know a little about the difference between just having talks with yourself verses drawn out debates as if there are two or more people speaking. That is not healthy.

Seek a profession now.

Answer #12

Dear clarissapink21, It’s called self-talk and it’s a very important part of our interactions with our emotions. We all do it. It is when it becomes negative that we start seeing problems with it. If you are doing this outloud…stop that. Keep it positive and keep it to yourself. But it is healthy and normal when kept positive and only in you head. Sue…good luck

Answer #13

Answer #15

I’ve heard that people with a strong ‘verbal intelligence’ are likely to find themselves thinking their thoughts out loud, just because that’s their strength. A person who had more of a ‘visual intelligence’ would be more likely to think while drawing/doodling etc, and someone with ‘physical intelligence’ is most likely to think well while walking, running etc.

So this might just be explained by the fact that you’re very good with words. But it could go too far - you don’t want other people to hear you doing it! If you are thinking disturbing thoughts out loud, then the people who suggest you ask a professional are probably right.
