Why does Religion cause so much pain

Over the past few weeks, I’ve really begun to question my faith and now I can see why, all its caused me is pain, It seems everything I do is a sin, If thats the way life is going, I don’t want anything to do with religion, Praying doesn’t seem to do sh*t, Why bother, I don’t care what people say anymore, I’m done, I don’t need religion anymore and I don’t want it, I’m sick of been told “This is a sin” and “That is a sin” My life was fine before I got involved in Religion, I don’t need it, and If I’m damned I don’t care, to be honest, I used to believe Jesus cared bout me but now I just think He envies me, He envies me because I am mortal and because any moment could be my last, I no longer believe in Jesus, Every damn day!, I think of a reason not to off myself and to be honest I’ve run out of reasons and If I’m going to hell for this, so be it, thats all my lives been anyway, I’ve been let down to much by what I believed, Its done nothing but lead me on a false sense.

Sounds like you may have some problems with depression. . . you should seek out some counciling. And don’t judge a religion by a private website of someone wanting to sell a book they wrote. . . . This one has much more resources. . . http://christianresources.i8.com/

We all sin … you are no different then the rest of us. And if the people you are talking too keep telling you your are sinning …then I would have to say that those people are not compassionate and caring. We should try to help one another…not condem one another… Jesus forgave all off our past, present and future sins on that cross…we just have a had time forgiving ourselves, and we think we are not good enough. Nobody is better then the other…so forgive yourself and be lead by your heart in what you do…Not by what other people think you should be doing…what you do sometimes is between you and God…let him work within you…

It sounds like you might be in the wrong church… why not try some others around you, they are all different. some preach continually on sin… and that is not healthy… I believe in preaching on the answer… Jesus… and what he has done for us, is doing, and will do… not how bad we are.

And to overcome, we have to keep our eyes upon Jesus, and he is the only one that can tell us what a sin is… not man. And he will help us with that sin, give us the power to overcome it, he will never… condemn us for it. He knew who we were, and what we were, when he called us into his family… he paid the complete price… and will work with us, as long as it takes… he is your very best friend…if you understand him right…and this can only be done by reading his word…

And.. he paid the price for every sin that you will ever commit… that does not give us free reign to sin, but, it delivers us from the want to… to sin.

when you pursue Jesus, it is about a relationship with him… not about how bad you are… he/we already know that.. we need deliverance … he offers it… we do not overcome overnight.. it is a process… and you have to use the tools that he has given… his word… his spirit… fellowship.. prayers of others… fasting… worship… etc…

I think you are just confused right now… and I pray that you will rethink this, when you are feeling better… I will pray for you… and I am sure that the others will too…

I’ve felt the way you did just about a 2 weeks ago. Jesus saved us from a world of damnation, not a world of pain. Jesus loves you, he will never forsake you. it says that in the bible somewhere, but I forgot because I gave up on God. As for the prayer, what ever you pray for, money, boyfriend/girlfriend, new bike, new labtop, etc. it would be done in his way, not yours. Becarful on what you say man. Hell is hell. Litteraly. your flesh melts there (which should take 2000 degrees F), if you are put into a pit, not only you will be burned, but worms will crawl inside and out of you. There is no water, food, comfort, or hope in hell. Plus your senses are increased, say you breathe through your nose, it would not be pleasant. You feel more pain. You hear the screams of litteraly billions of people. Damnation you don’t want. Not to mention its eternal. forever. never ends. I am no one to be talking because I continue to sin (I steal, I lust for girls, I disobey my parents but not all the time) but I am trying to stop, your not alone man. Just ask God to give you the desire to follow him. Ask him to put people that could help you. It may not be instant, it may take over time depending on when God wants it to happen. Don’t give up!

You said: It seems everything I do is a sin - that is common to ALL of us - the great news is we can be forgiven of that and that heavy load lifted off of us - the choice in John 3 : 16 is up to us - a personal relationship with Him is available…Take care !!

Answer #6

embrace and follow your own morality- define that which you personally believe in, and identify that which YOU believe to be right and wrong. organized religions can create serious guilt complexes- you know all about that. I believe that everyone should find their own path- through study and life experience. your proper beliefs are there- you just need to find them and follow them. and having accomplished that- you will again feel better and one with the world.

Answer #7

Religion exists for the sole purpose of spreading itself. Nothing you’ve been told about it is true.

It’s an elaborate system of deception that plays on people’s fears and desires, and spreads itself via logical fallacies such as appeals to faith, appeals to emotion, appelas to authority and antiquity.

Just live your life. There are no gods, demons, heaven, hell, etc. When you die you turn into dirt and nothing more.

Answer #8

It is your choice, your decision. You have the freedom of thought, of imagination. If you think religion is suppressing/misleading/trapping you, don’t absorb it. If it helps/guides/enlightens you, take it in. Whether you believe in it or not, follow your instincts and go on the path that you feel better on. We only got one shot at life as we know it, right? Live it. Don’t just exist. ~ =) ~ <3 ~

Answer #9

Religion is just a lie created by ignorant peasants to pacify people afraid of the unknown, which is now used to make money.

Answer #10

The problem is that you have not yet found the religion that is right for you. Just as man is diverse so too are the various religions. Take your time and do a little research and you will find the religion that you are most comfortable with.

Don’t listen to this drivel. It isn’t true. Amblessed will have you think it is a choice, but it is not. One can not choose to believe something. Saying you believe something is not the same as actually believing it. Either it makes sense to you, or it doesn’t it. Don’t let the zealots fool you into thinking you have a choice. The only choice you have is to be honest with yourself.

Answer #12

Look at the words of Jesus that He uses about Himself - bread, wine, shepherd, way, friend, brother… He does not want to to focus on your sin, and any religion that is making you do that is not His way. We are sinners, but the focus is that we repent and through His death we are forgiven.

The End.

Don’t focus on the sin - no wonder that leaves you feeling despondent. Focus on your Friend, Jesus. He may need you to change some things in your life, but you’ll find His way a lot better than the way of humans who want to control you.

And potsap, I absolutely refuse to be scared into heaven. I’ve been loved there, by Jesus, not scared there by hell. Other than that, I love your advice - I think you really know what thecerebralassassin is going through.

Respect to both of you - my prayers are with you!
