Why did this offend me?

Today at lunch I was asking my friends who they thought was more mature between me and this girl I was comparing myself to,they all said her. After that,I walked off to my 4th period class,they thought I was playing when I left but I didn’t turn back. How could that offend me?

I’m not much of a childish person like I used to be,only if I’m hyper,but at that tme I wasn’t hyper.

“When I was a kid…” lol.

Anytime you beg people to compare you & another, you’re doomed for disappointment.

A few facts of life, if I may:

There will always be somebody richer than you.
There will always be somebody faster and stronger than you.
There will always be somebody better looking than you.
There will always be somebody taller, better dressed and more stylish than you.

However…

Somewhere, there are people less fortunate than you.
Somewhere, people have a hard life - the kind we can’t imagine, as we sit at a desk or walk around on devices that are close to magic (modern cell phones).
Somewhere, people lack the freedom with which to express even this simple truth: we all hold different beliefs…and no amount of laws will ever change that which is only in our hearts and minds.

Ask yourself, before you ask another question like this: am I living a “socratic life” examining my actions…? Or am I stuck inside my own glass house, unable to view the world from another perspective?

Whenever you ask a question of that nature, you really need to prepare yourself for answers that may hurt. Otherwise, it’s not a sincere question from you, it’s more of request for an ego booster. Anyway, on the bright side, girls always get labelled as being more mature.. lol. And it’s not necessarily true.

Asking who is more mature, kinda well doesnt show a lot of maturity. Then being offended by an answer shows even less maturity. They may be right. I suppose it is easy to get offended because they’re you’re friends and are supposed to be on your side. But perhaps by being honest they were on your side?
