When is a joke no longer a joke for you?

Like when do you start feeling offended by a joke and what about it offends you?

Answer #1

I get annoyed with it when - friends use it too much when I was the first to use it, sisters & parents use it, when other people tell me I took it from them. I get offended when - it’s about races or gays/lesbians/bi’s, ( no blonde jokes don’t count, i love those (x ) when it’s people calling me something i’m not & it affects my esteem.

Answer #5

after about two or three times if more than one persn tell me the same joke that is very very annoying

Answer #6

Answer #7

But like any kind of joke, you know, sarcastic ones, or facetious ones :)

Answer #8

For me I would hv to say when it offends, hurts or refers to something or someone me or others (as mentioned above, when it deals with s*x, race, religion, disabilities, appearances, size or shape, especially when it is about someone you care about, someone in the same room or even someone standing right in front of you!) I just think it is wrong & uncalled for! Just the way I am I guess…oh well!

Answer #9

Answer #11

When It Hurts Someone’s Feelings Or Annoys Me.. Or People

Answer #12

Answer #13

when someone makes a racist joke or laughs about their sexuality…thats just taking it to far.

Answer #14

A joke is no longer a joke to me when it’s when it’s used inappropriately in serious situations. Sometimes a good joke helps to cut tension, but since most jokes made around me are about me, sometimes I just don’t want to hear it. Usually I’m good with jokes, but hey. Everyone has a comfort line.

Answer #15

I think that it’s not the joke that offensive. It’s always the situation. So for example, if an obese person who talks to another obese person makes a joke about fat people, then that is mostly OK. But if a skinny person tells the same joke to other slender people while an obese person is present and feels offended, that is inappropriate.

It’s basically the same with sexist, racist, religious group or minority group jokes. If you are a member of any group, you are free to make fun of yourself, your own group as well as any stereotypes that exist for your group.

I do like jokes that point at stereotypes and prejudices. But if I tell any of these, I need to make sure everyone understands that I’m making fun of the stereotype and not on the person that the stereotypes is about

Answer #16

I suppose its not a joke if it becomes excessive. It eventually loses its funnyness, or it becomes offensive. If a person is kidding around about something that normally offends you once, i suppose thats fine cause its just a joke, but when they start saying it too much it really loses the authenticity a joke has, and basically becomes an insult. Thats when its not a joke, and it needs to stop.

Answer #17

when people keep repeating it and it gets old
