When-are german shepards good around children?

German Shepherds are wonderful around children…high drive pups may try to ‘herd’ them…but that’s true when any herding breed. I’ve had GSD’s for 40+ years…and have heard of damn few mishaps with children.

A trained PPD would actually be more reliable than a dog who’s making his own decisions…Go to your local police and talk to K9 cops…they take their dogs home at night…and a lot of them have children…

I don’t know who has been telling you that you’d be a horrible parent for bringing a GSD home when you have a baby…but if it was me, I’d sure consider the source. Talk to those who KNOW, instead of the completely ignorant.

well I forgot to say congrads but yea I don’t know like maybe it’ll get the sence to protect the baby too like labs do but maybe it’ll try and protect you and hurt the baby like I LOVE german shepherds and im getting one soon I have a 2 yr old sister and we had a pitbull but there REALLLY aggresive so my mom said to wait till shes 2-3 to get a big dog but if your trying to do it since birth do what I said like take it step by step like the first day bring the dog in but with a leash on and have your husband/boyfriend hold it far away then closer and closer and closer tilll it reaches the baby but carefully and do it day by day till the dog gets used to the baby

they are REAALLLYYY good around children but theres a catch with it. . .. .they have to be puppis with the baby or slowly introduce the baby and show the dog that the baby is not leaving!!! dont just full out let the dog in the house with the baby. . alsoo dont let the dog stay alone with the baby!!if you spoill the dog its gonna be harder for it to get used to it!!
