What is the best way to teach year 5 & 6's?

I want to make my teaching really interactive, any advice? It would be great to hear about game Ideas too.

*If you’re unfamiliar with how new zealand school standards work:

The first year you start school, you’re a year 1.

thus year 5 and 6, is 10 and 11-year olds.

Answer #1

social studies: the day before a test ( this could work for science too ), get some bingo cards ( or make some ) and tell your students to rip up pieces of paper. Then, tell them to write down the name of a word used in the subject down on a bingo square ( for example, in social studies, if you taught your students about Andrew Carnegie, your students may wanna write down “steel business” on one of the bingo squares). Then, to play the game, you would say something like “Carnegie made his fortune by doing this.” If your students wrote down “steel business” on his or her card, he or she will put a piece of paper on the bingo square. My social studies teacher did this last year and the class liked it!
