What do you think of my Soldier poem??
So, I wrote a poem about my brother, he’s in iraq right now-and having a really really hard time. and I wrote this, but I’m not going to give it to him, but I wanna know if it’s good enough for publishing or something.. You’re strong, but breakable You are called to duty You shot him, you shot the enemy You must be proud, but you’re not Looking at the hands of a killer, hands of a soldier It’s your life or his I pick yours. I’m sorry you have seen things you didn’t want to see The images are clear Blood, so much blood Screaming in your ears, shots overpower it I’m sorry you have done things you wish you didn’t The feeling was real Blood, so much blood The screaming stopped, you took his life Images invade your dreams You can’t escape the torturous world Lying in bed Crying. Weeping. Wanting. You need someone to hug To tell you it’s going to be okay That you killed him for your country My brother, You’re going to be okay You killed him for me I’m here for you, in your heart Listen to my voice at night I talk to you every day I love you Always and forever. ~Leah

its amazing, you definitely write from the heart and with such passion for what you’re writing about! I can see how much you care for your brother just from these words. you should send him a copy of it =) and its definitely good enough to publish. I love a good poem that actually about something relevant to someone, and by that I mean isn’t written in a complete metaphor. you’re brother has my hope that he’ll return home safely, I’ve heard Iraq can be a hellish place that can emotionally damage even the strongest person. =’( but I love your poem, it’s wonderful!
I write poetry too. This is great, from the heart and it shows passion. Good job, definitely ready for publishing.
