How to save money once we live together?

this weekend I am moving into an apartment with my boyfriend of 2 and a half years. I would really appreciate any advise. nothing sexual is needed, we have that down. money saving tips are great as well. thanks!

I’m not sure what arrangements you and your boyfriend have expense wise (ex: paying everything half each), but once you know, it’s very important to set up a battle plan. This includes saving money for necessities, shopping at places where you can save money, coupon cutting, eating in instead of out, being sure to not overspend, etc.

For me, personally, it helped to write down my expenses and figure out what money I had to work with. I’m assuming you have a job, so how much do you make? Write it down and break down your household expenses. When you have those expenses sectioned off, figure out what you still need to take care of that’s not household (gas or bus passes, medicine, emergencies, etc).

Once you do that, you’ll have a better idea of what you can and can’t do expense wise.
