The death penalty for child molesters/rapists?

The supreme court ruled that a person may not be put to death for raping an adult, however, in 5 states, a child rapist may be put to death if found guilty. Since this is a far worse crime for the victim than a murder, beause the child will have to live with this for the rest of their lives, should a possible penalty be death?

Now that DNA is a tested and proved technique, if there is clear evidence of aggrivated rape, torture, ruling out any possibility of consensual sex, I have no issue with it. The death penalty should only be used in cases where there is overwhelming evidence this was more than a drunken incident or a date rape. Those should be given long sentences, not the death penalty. And for child rapist absolutely. There is no known cure for pedophilia and the damage that is done can be devastating. However, the evidence to support a death sentence should be very strong.

There are instances where the woman has cried wolf. However, there are far more where a rape victim has refused to come forward for a variety of reasons. And until we can truly rehabilitate the perpetrator, there is no reason for your sister, your mother or grandmother for that matter fear being raped by those who will rape again. I don’t care that they didn’t get the little red bicycle or were abused or raped when they were kids, women now should not have to fear them. I wish we could go back and save these criminals from the conditions which made them who they are, but we don’t have time travel yet.

Serial rapists, just like sociopathic serial killers like Cacy, Bundy, Manson, Lucas should be put to death, when the evidence supports it.

So does life without parole.

Except American tax payer monies don’t have to pay for his “life without parole”, and his possibility of escaping and doing it again.

Answer #3

“It stops recidivism. That individual will certainly never commit the crime for which he was punished.”

So does life without parole.

Answer #4

No one should get the death penalty. It accomplishes nothing.

It stops recidivism. That individual will certainly never commit the crime for which he was punished.

Answer #5

people, this world has gone crazy. either way, rape is one of the worst crimes 9besides murder) that anyone could commit. it’s actually similar to murder; you’re killing the person’s self-esteem and happiness. so, I vote yes to death penalty for rape of child and an adult. this world is just so messed up, it makes me sick!

Answer #6

I think thats the only way to go until we find a cure for this horrid mental imbalance sounds old school but what else can we do? nothing works as of yet

Answer #7

I agree with wh0deany0fhilari0usness. Cut there balls off and if there caught molesting remove there hands.

Answer #8

F*ck them all and then kill them after a shotgun blast to the balls.

Or just spade them that would work too. haha

Answer #9

I think they should for child molestors cause the poor child would have to live with that for the rest of her/his life. And as for rapists be if the were sober…cause sometimes drunks have no clue what they’re doing..even though it’s their fault. And definately if they could prove it incase the person was innocent.

Answer #10

Here’s something for consideration. If a molester knows that the penalty for raping a child is the same as that of killing a child… will he rationalize that leaving a witness that can identify him is more of a gamble?

I think that the only redeeming quality of capital punishment is the determent factor it brings. We can argue the devastating effects of rape and abuse and how they impact the futures of the victims… but we can’t argue the finality of death. A dead victim has no future.

I personally think that there are times in life when the fear of reprisal is the only motivation for the return to sanity. Unfortunately. This most severe punishment should only be instituted for the most severe crime.

I would prefer for my child to have a victim’s future as opposed to none at all.

Answer #11

I oppose the death penalty not on moral grounds, but on practical grounds. Innocent people do get convicted from time to time, and the death penalty can not be undone.

If we had a perfect trustworthy justice system, I’d be ok with it for some crimes, but it’s counterproductive to even discuss which crimes, because to do so detracts from the reality that the justice system is far from perfect.

Answer #12

I personally think death is the easy way out so I think they should just rot in prison until they die. but thats just my opinion.

Answer #13

I don’t think the death penalty should be used for anything. I think it’s wrong. Think about it - say the courts convicted someone who was actually innocent as guilty and sentenced them to death.

It has happened in the past. It may not be very likely, I don’t know, but if there’s a chance an innocent life could be taken, it should be abolished.

Answer #14

I do not believe in the death penalty for any crime. I do believe in life without parole.

Answer #15

No one should get the death penalty. It accomplishes nothing.

Answer #16

I don’t believe in the death penalty at all.
