What do I say/do to stop my mother insulting my friends?

My friends are reasonably deacent people, infact compared to the majority of the people in my school, they’re probably the most sutible people to have a friends so I don’t understand why my mother insults them so much. They don’t do drugs, smoke, and most of them are strictly against alcohol. Yet my mother always finds the need to insult them. She insults their weight, their looks, their choice of fashion and their academic ability. I’m pretty fed up with it. I never argue with my mother, I always just close the conversation and walk away before I can let any of it get to me. Recently it’s been worse because I’m doing my GCSEs and I’m very stressed out about it all and I get aggitated really easily. I just want her to stop doing it, because at the moment I don’t feel like I can tell her if I have a new friend or if I want to visit a friend because it hurts me to hear her insult them. I also have a boyfriend, which I don’t feel able to tell her about because I know that she’ll just insult him as she does my friends. I don’t know what to say or do to make her stop, because it upsets me to listen to it.

Ha my mom does that too :/

Answer #2

Have you tried just talking to her about how you don’t want her insulting your friends? Maybe she’ll explain to you why she does that if you just sit her down and talk to her.

Answer #3

Start insulting hers, if she has any, what-a-bitch.

Answer #4

just ask her to stop because its really rude if she doesnt stop then i would do it to her friends if i was you XD

Answer #5

Maybe she thinks she’s being ‘cool’ or funny? Be honest with her and tell her she’s not! Tell her how it’s effecting you and your friends ( and possibly your relationships ).

Answer #6

If you get arguing when you try to talk about it, then maybe write a letter to her. Don’t write an angry one. Just put it the way you explained it to us. Then leave it on her bedside cabinet and wait. Maybe that will help.
