Their house - they are the parents/decisions makers for the household - you could show respect and wait until you’re out on your on…Take care !!

If you want a snake, I wouldn’t choose a boa. As winsten16 said, they tend to grow too big for parents to like them. If I was you, I would get something small and relatively harmless, like a grass snake. If you have your heart set on a boa, then talk it through rationally with your parents and tell them you will look after it, it will be entirely your responsibility etc. If your parents still say no, tough luck, you will have to wait ‘till you are older. Hope that helped, Britz

Boa constrictors are not appropriate animals to keep as pets. Even if you felt that it was tame and that you had addressed any safety issues, can you really offer such a large repile the freedom and opportunities to express its natural behaviour that it would have in the wild (or a very large compound in a zoo).

I know people do keep them as pets but, personally it seems inappropriate and the needs of the animal must come first.

If you are committed to getting one - here is some information in this link you may find helpful:

I really would recommend talking to some experts on the subject and maybe visiting some of the reptile rescue centres where many of these big snakes are abandoned as they just become too much for their owners to handle. They can be a very long commitment >20years and you would need help in handling a boa once fully grown. A smaller snake may be the better option - sorry.

Good luck
