Sleep deprived workout

So I stayed up all night so that I could see my uncle off to the airport and now its morning and I don’t plan to sleep because it will ruin my sleeping pattern. I haven’t worked out for 2 days and I want to work out today but I am very tired and sleepy. I am sure I can still work out but will I still benefit from it as I am sleep deprived? I feel like swimming today, so by doing laps in the pool and then eating a nice big breakfast-lunch-dinner, will I still gain muscle or will it hurt my health? Thanks, I appreciate your help :) P.s. Anyone ever get a light euphoric high when sleep deprived for the first day? I know after 2 days it just feels like sh*t and almost impossible to stay up.

You can use the method for travellers.. you can reset your body clock by making your sleeping room cold… The time that you want to be your “middle of the night” needs to be the time your body gets the coldest.

It works for recovering/resetting from jet-lag (time change.) It also helps shift workers when they have to change shifts.

If you only have a few hours to sleep, you should take a warm shower, before going to bed. Your sleep quality will be greatly improved over what it would have been, without the shower.

If you don’t want to shower, first, then you could also wear socks to bed. They will help you sleep more lightly, if you are used to sleeping without socks on your feet.

Sleep is not really down-time.. instead, it is repair time for your body. If you are wiped out, your workout will be somewhat like lifting after your muscle is fatigued. Your returns will be greatly diminished.

Recall that your workout simply activates/stimulates your muscles. The new tissue is added during your rest/ refuel/ sleep periods.

It’s not good to exercise when you are over tired…it has the same effects of exercising when sick, basically you’re over working your heart and that is very bad. Some light exercise may still be ok, but don’t go intensive.
