How can I get my Quaker parrot to stop nibbling on my face and ears every time he sits on my shoulder?

Every time I hold him he starts to nibble all over my face, lips, and ears.
He’s a very temperamental bird so if I try to make him stop he squaks at me & bites me. It doesn’t hurt when he nibbles; it’s just an annoying habit.

Well you need to train him slowly since he’s a little bossy bird! But sooner or later, he will stop but you gotta teach him that its not ok to nibble on you

I know what your saying I have a cockateil and it alwasy goes for my earrings prob cause they shine and he grabs them and holds on and then when i move I bring him along to… so even more pain. With this when I see hes about to go for it I turn my head and really loud go no and he backs off, he doesnt like the loud and tone of my voice. and he always will pick at my face if he sees a hair or he has gone and seen a crumb on my lip and picked it off which that doesnt hurt at all though or when he gets a hair. But I could see how ur bird is bigger and could hurt. Then again it’s how he is meaning it my bird doesn’t mean to peck at me just gets stuff off my face, urs could be harder cause hes pecking n means to. i would also get a spray bottle and spray him everytime he does that.

Train is a useless word in the bird world.

I have an african grey and the one thing I’ve learned is. You can train them to do tricks, talk, sing, and habits. What you can’t really do is train them not to.

Also NEVER EVER take a spray bottle to a bird. They are spossed to like water. Birds typically love spray baths, showers and will typically bathe themselves in their water bowls. Never use it as a punishment, then you’re going to have a bird that is afriad of water. Also do not use the cage as punishment, you do not want your bird thinking they are in trouble everytime they get put back in their cage.

The best thing you can do is give him something to do while he’s on your shoulder. He might not like it there. He could be bored or annoyed. My grey will start eating my shirt if he wants attention/ if he’s bored sitting behind me on the chair. I’ll give him a noodle. Little peice of paper, pen cap, something safe for him to chew up to keep him occupied. Telling him no, stop doesn’t do a single thing.
