Give him a vareity of chew toys like, stuffed animal (if eyes are beads, remove them) squeaky toys, ropes, rawhides and even hard treats. Baby toys such as the teething rings without the water in it work well too. Socks stuffed with fabric or cloth tied at the ankle are my dogs favorite. There is also a toy called KONG. There are different sizes and fillings for it. Petsmart and Petco supply these.

If your puppy bites to hard, sternly say no biting. Tap in on the snout if needed but do not hurt him/her. For more advice, email me at, askcallie@aol.com

What we did with my puppy’s biting problem was spraying her with a spray bottle filled with water. Most dog’s dont like to be sprayed, though they may like water. My dog learned that everytime she would bite or do something bad, she would be sprayed. Another option is rolling up a newspaper and hitting it on a talbe to startle your dog. You could also fill a container with coins and hit it on the ground every time your dog does something bad, because that will also scare them. Best of luck!

Answer #3

Most puppies bite and nibble. The best way to train a puppy is through no physical ways. If your puppy tries to bite you try expressing your hurt through saying “ouch” or something (keep it consistent), glare and refuse to play with him/her. Then a bit later give him/her a toy to gnaw on and if he tries to bite anything inapropriate again repeat the behaviour. It’s best to teach them at an early age what things are appropriate to nibble on.

Hopefully this helps. Good luck.
