I don't know about prescribed medications, but before you look into that you should make sure that you are taking vitamins and making sure your body is getting all the vitamins and minerals it needs to be healthy :) If your body is getting the nutrients it needs, then it will let go of excess weight easier.
Agreed, even prescribed medicine to lose weight is dangerous. Best way to lose weight is to exercise and eat healthy and if that isn't working, ask your doctor to test your thyroid.
