How many ounces of formula should my daughter (turning 5 months on the 3rd of October) eat each day?

I am having her eat 2 ounces of rice rice cereal plus 4 ounces of milk for one feeding..and the rest of her meals are only formula. Is that good or should I feed her more cereal?

Answer #1

Out here we don’t start rice cerial until 6 months. All babies are differant but the average is about 5 to 6 ounces per feeding at this age. And it’s best to give the cerial feeding before bed. But don’t put it in a bottle.

Answer #2

by the way you should only be feeding two dry table spoons of cerial per feeding.

Answer #3

mixed with formula or breast milk of coarse.

Answer #4

I started her out with 2 tablespoons but I have started giving her more soon…and how many times a day should I be giving her 5-6 oz?

Answer #5

in my experience all children feed differantly. At that age both my children ate every 4 hours.

Answer #6

I know every child is different..I just want to have an estimate..cuz my doctor says she should be eating 5 bottles a day..but she eats 6-7 bottles a day and he says she is a little on the chunky side but she is just barely over the 50th percentile in weight and right now the 50th in height.

Answer #7

anywhere from 5 to 7 bottles per 24 hours sounds normal to me. You have to feed her when she is hungry. Get more info from her doctor on how to feed her and if you don’t agree or want a second opinion I would look into getting a new doctor. If she is just only in the 50% in both wieght and hieght she should be fine drinking up to seven 6 ounce bottles per 24 hour period. But I am not a doctor so as always its best to ask them.

thanks.
