Why do I want a kid every time I see one?

I’m 16 and seeing kids makes me want one. I’m not stupid enough to get pregnant, but i really want a baby. no matter if the kid is being a spoiled brat, it still makes me want a kid. Why?! everyone calls me weird for it, because most of my friends don’t even want to think about having a kid, but lately, i cant stop.

I blame it on the media’s influence and the influence of some around you. Take those shows on mtv and such, like teen mom, it’s almost a way of glorifying young mothers, only it gives people the wrong idea. They make it seem like an easy task with a paved road to walk on. Sure, it’s full of drama, but it’s not entirely realistic. The world is full of young mothers, and the more there are, the more excepted it seems to be. I think people tend to like the idea of having a small piece of them that they can care for and love, but I don’t think everyone thinks about all the responsibility and finanial stability required to give a child a good environment and home. It’s a part of our nature to want to nurture and have children. Some people are more motherly than others. I, for one, love the idea of having a child, but I know that the circumstances I’m living with are unsuitable for any kind of responsibilty to that extent right now in my life. It’s natural to desire your own baby, I’d just suggest thinking about all of the cons to the situation too.

I’m the same way! :/

I think people have forgotten about our natural instinct to breed. When an animal reaches the age of maturity, it’s hormones drive it to mate … people aren’t much different from that. There was a time when 16 was considered a perfectly viable age for having children. As our society developed, so did the idea that having children at a young age is bad. The truth is, you want a baby because your body is telling you that you are ready … it’s our way of living that tells you otherwise.

Answer #4

To clarify, your body is ready. Here comes the “but”… Emotionally and financially, I have never met or seen a 16 year old that would not have benefited from waiting until they were older to have kids.

All i say is there alot of responsibility especially if your child is collicy I have a 1 month old and have got to leave the house maybe a total of 5 times because he gets horrible stomach pains from gas. I literally have to hold him all day or do what ever he needs me to do to calm him. If he gets a tummy ache in the middle of the night it means im staying up 1-2 hours to help him till its gone. I have hardly any time for stuff around the house or to eat, shower or even pee. If your old enough and have a stable relationship n job then maybe you might be ready but if your still young theres NOTHING wrong with waiting a lil while and enjoying yer years because the time will fly by anyway. I was a teen mom at 17 it wasnt easy n now at 22 i have 2 kids which adds that much more responisbilty. Now if you really care about being responsible you will listen to what people say and take the right precautions. But some people wont listen so talking to them is usless cuz they will do what they want. Well hope i helped a bit. Good luck!

See if America wasn’t so “sheltered” and open more about sexuality and what not and we taught a proper sex education class and parents of “sheltered” america were on board then nothing would seem so omg I want a baby and omg this forbidden se.x sounds so cool I want to try it. But alas we are not in a utopia where the generations of children to come will not be ignorant of se.x. instead we are stuck in ignorant america. Where schools are saying no to se.x ed yes to dodgeball…because I need dodgeball as a prime skill in life. Ahh if only the government funded schools and the military ran bake sales to buy bombs…..america wouldn’t be laughed at as much….especially with the uprise of teen moms.
