I know nuts are healthy but they are high in calories...

Hi, I’m on a very small diet. I excercise almost every day, and I’m trying to eat right. I’m not overweight, but I want a flatter stomach. I was wondering, is it okay to eat nuts if you want to have not as much calories? I’ve heard they benefit someone when they want a flatter stomach…but how? If they’re high in calories how do they do that?

So, my final question is, would it be right for me to eat those as a snack while I’m trying to get a flatter stomach?

Thanks!

Granted my information was from a men’s magazine, so for women it might be different.

The idea here is moderation. The health benefits provided by nuts (specifically almonds were mentioned) far out weigh the calories added. Especially because the type of fats that are in some nuts are very, very good for you to have. This does not mean you eat nuts for breakfast lunch and dinner. It means if you have a handful, two tops, of nuts a day you’ll be fine. Maybe include them as a mid morning snack.

Also of note, while peanuts are tasty, they are not a nut. They do contain nutrients and act similar to nuts, but there are much better nuts out there for you. Almonds are one of the better ones. If you want to go with mixed nuts fine, but pay the extra little bit and get the ones without peanuts. You get enough peanut from products you eat every day.

Nuts provide carbs and protein for energy. They would be great to use as a snack!
