How would I get parental rights taken away from someone?

I have a son that is almost two. I want to know if there is a way to get his fathers parental rights taken away. I live in a different state than his father. His father doesn’t visit, even when I offer to pay, and he doesn’t help out in any way at all. My husband wants to adopt my son as his own. My child’s father has allowed me to leave the state with him many times even before I moved and when I moved to my new home he didn’t fight it either…

Answer #1

The biological Father has to sign over his rights before your husband can adopt him!

Answer #2

you would most likely have to get a lawyer that would be a good start because if you take away the fathers right without legal representation that makes it possible that the father could just take the child away from you.

Answer #3

Only a judge can revoke parental rights - you’ll need to go to court.

My ex lost his parental rights just on the fact that he never visited his children, so you stand a good chance, but all judges have their own methods.

Answer #4

I’m not sure how, But this can be done. You will have to go to court over it though.

If the father agrees to it all, then it will be easy. But if not you will have to find things that make him an unfit father.
