How to stop negative self talk anxiety?
Well the first step is to recognize what you’re saying and that you’re saying it. A lot of people don’t realize what sort of mean things they say to themselves. Keep a daily notebook of thoughts. After a week or so, look at the pattern of thoughts. Now, a couple of things to deal with the thoughts. First is challenge them, is it really true? Are you really stupid if you got a question wrong, or if you failed one test (i.e. what is the evidence backing up your thought). The other thing is, ok, if it is true, what does that mean. A lot of catastrophic thinking comes from making a big thing about nothing. Finally, how helpful is it to think that way. Ok, so even if it is true, how useful is it for you to dwell on it?
